Interstate Series Day2 @ McLeod

Australian Women’s Interstate Teams Matches, McLeod Country Golf Club

Western Australia produced an outstanding overall display to defeat South Australia 8-0 and secure the narrowest of outright leads after the second round of play at the Australian Women’s Interstate Teams Matches for the Gladys Hay Memorial Cup in Brisbane.

Just half a match separates Western Australia, Queensland and Victoria.

Western Australia’s dominant win included comprehensive singles wins for Jayde Panos, Minjee Lee and Jessica Speechley in addition the 3-0 clean sweep of the morning foursomes.
Victoria and Queensland are tied in second place following strong wins over Tasmania and New South Wales.

Queensland won 6 ½ to 1 1/2 as Ali Orchard partnered with Corinne Swan to win their foursomes 8&6 before Orchard won her singles match 6&5.

The Queenslanders controlled the afternoon singles with solid wins as Tasmania’s Ashlee Dewhurst squared her match with Ashley Ona to remain undefeated.

Victoria remain firmly in contention following their 6-2 win over New South Wales. Victoria took all three matches from the foursomes before Stacey Keating, Breanna Elliott and Elissa Orr won to secure their win.

New South Wales sit in fourth place while Tasmania (5th) and South Australia (6th) complete the leaderboard.
