Local golf club recognises volunteer work
McLeod Country Golf Club will take part in one of Australia’s largest celebrations in May, recognising the club’s tireless volunteers as part of National Volunteers Week.
McLeod is holding a special recognition night on Wednesday, May 16th to say thank you to all of the club’s volunteers for their contributions to the club.
Club president Di Paez said the night would honour and showcase the great work done by volunteers.
“Volunteers are essential to our club and we would struggle to survive without the support of our tireless volunteers,” Mrs Paez said.
“At McLeod we have many different volunteers assisting in various roles including the governance of the club, the organisation of competitions, the gardening ladies, monitoring of rules and regulations and many more.
“Volunteering is about giving and our volunteers certainly give up a great amount of their own time to help shape McLeod.”
National Volunteers Week (May 14 to 20) is the largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia and provides an opportunity to highlight the role of volunteers in communities and to say thank you to more than 6.1 million Australians who volunteer.
This year’s theme for National Volunteers Week is Volunteers – Every One Counts.
“This theme sends a strong message to all our existing volunteers that they are valued,” Mrs Paez said.
“And it also encourages potential volunteers by reinforcing that every single volunteer makes an important contribution.”
